The base's SafeCell Technology™ lowers the seat's center of gravity in a crash, counteracting a seated child's forward movement to reduce the risk of a head injury. Integrated steel bars strengthen the seat's connection to the vehicle, and an energy-absorbing Versa-Tether with a two-point attachment and staged-release tether webbing, as well as the Harness Ultra Guard System, further slow forward-movement.
Deep side walls lined with energy-absorbing EPP foam offers superior side-impact protection, shielding and containing a child's head, neck, and body. They effectively distribute crash forces along with the secure, tangle-free five-point harness. High-density comfort foam, two buckle positions, an infant positioning insert, soft black and cow-spot-printed fabric upholstery, and rear- and forward-facing recline positions provide comfort for children up to 70 lbs. Premium lower LATCH connectors make installation quick and simple, and built-in lock-offs ensure snug lap and shoulder belt installation. The anti-slip, contoured base grips and protects a vehicle seat, and the plush, easy-remove cover allows you to clean the seat without disassembling it. You don't ever have to disassemble the harness, either - a quick-adjust, no-rethread design repositions the harness height, and holders keep the straps at the sides when you're placing a child in the seat. We bought a Britax Marathon for my daughter when she was 2, & we loved it. We used it for her until she was big enough for a booster, then moved my son into it when he turned a year old. It recently expired & we loved it so much we bought this one in the same print. I love how the straps adjust, there is no rethreading!! There's more padding with this one than the previous version, it's super simple to install, & my son seems comfy & secure in it. It's a big seat, but the base isn't huge so it fits nicely in our Kia Minivan. (We had our previous one in a VW Jetta, & it fit, but snugly) Overall, I love this new seat, & I have no doubt we'll use it until it expires.

I bought this because I wanted my 17 month old who weighs 21 lbs to ride rear facing. That is a joke. We installed the seat, placed her in it and her knees were clear up to her face. She had maybe 5 inches between her crotch and the back of the seat where her feet go. She couldn't have sat rear facing at 15 lbs in this car seat. The warning sticker warns no child over 20 lbs or 1 year of age is permitted to sit rear facing. Then very next warning says can sit rear facing up to 40 lbs. Talk about mixed messages. My sister-in-law pointed out the material is extremely hot and will make her sweat. If I had known all of this I would not have ordered and I will be returning this product.

I got this carseat for my daughter who is 11 months old. She now enjoys going in the carseat and its easy to get her in and out. Plus the cow print is adorable.
