Crib Bedding

When choosing and purchasing everything for your new nursery, don't forget all the soft and snuggly items. It’s important to make sure you have enough blankets, sheets, mattress pad covers, and more before your little one arrives.

First, every crib needs a tightly fitting mattress pad and sheet and every parent wants to make sure they have at least two of each. Crib sheets and mattress pads are designed to fit snugly for safety reasons, so make sure you choose ones that are made for your crib. And you’ll want at least two sets for any late-night or nap time accidents. For convenience sake, and so you don’t feel like you’re always doing laundry, you may decide you’d like more than two sets, but it’s purely a personal preference.

Bedding sets often include at least one of everything you need, but always double check to make sure you have everything. Many bedding sets include a quilt that, while beautiful, isn't recommended for use until your baby is ready for one. These quilts can be used on your nursery wall as decoration until your baby is old enough. Bed skirts are another common item in nursery bedding sets and are merely for decoration. If you choose to use a skirt, it can help to hide any bins you might keep under the crib that hold extra blankets, sheets, and more.

Changing pads help to make changing your baby more sanitary, and comfortable. You can easily find changing pad covers that match your nursery decor and are soft against your baby’s skin. These pads and covers also help keep any accidents from overflowing onto your floor or your baby’s favorite lovey. This is another item where it’s helpful to have at least two.

While your baby is under the age of one, you might want to consider a swaddling blanket. These blankets are specifically designed to make swaddling easier. Receiving blankets are also a must-have for any parent. Perfect as a large burp cloth, emergency changing pad cover, lightweight blanket, and usually large enough to swaddle your baby if needed, receiving blankets are your all-purpose baby blanket.

Keep in mind that many crib sets also have other nursery décor items as part of their collection. This may include mobiles, diaper stackers, hampers, window valances, rugs, and wall art. It's up to you how much of the collection you want to use.
