The side that lowers is quiet and can be operated and lowered with one hand. The mechanism for rising and lowering are plastic so it is not squeaky like the old metal rods that were on my first crib with my older children. You push in the actual side rail with your foot and the rail lowers. Very nice value.

This is a nice looking crib. It is relatively sturdy. I dont like the drop side or the mechanism that holds it in place. I put the drop side up against a wall so my daughter is not holding/leaning on to it. This is a second crib for me, so it suits its purpose.

I PURCHASED THIS SAME BED 31 YRS. AGO FOR MY DAUGHTER, AND ACTUALLY USED IT FOR ALL 3 DAUGHTERS. NOW WITH HAVING A GRANDDAUGHTER ON THE WAY, I WANTED HER TO HAVE THE SAME BED AS HER MOMMA DID! IT'S BEAUTFUL!!!
