About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.
The Benefits of Eco-Friendly Rubberwood
Prized as an environmentally friendly wood, rubberwood makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing life cycle. The trees are removed by hand and replaced with new seedlings. In the past, felled rubber trees were either burned on the spot or used as fuel for locomotive engines, brick firing, or latex curing. Now the wood is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. It is valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color, and acceptance of different finishes.
Atlantic's Unique Five-Step Finishing Process
Each product in the entire line is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process. After a thorough sanding, a wipe-on sealer is applied, followed by a tinted sealer to even the grain and color of the wood. Additional sanding prepares the surface for the first base color coat, more sanding, and a second base color coat. After a final sanding, the finish coat is applied. This process produces a beautiful and durable finish that will last for years.

Comments about Atlantic Furniture Richmond 4-in-1 Convertible Crib:
Crib advertised as all hardwood construction. I did not expect the lauan (nice plywood) used in the mattress base. I wanted a product that did not contain possible poisons like formaldehyde. I guess I needed to spend more than $400 for a safe crib for my baby. MY BAD. Combine this with rough wood, bad finish, and loose slats, I'm not at all satisfied. Lesson learned - If is really important don't buy online if you have not seen product in person.

Comments about Atlantic Furniture Richmond 4-in-1 Convertible Crib:
We have had this crib for over a year now. Very easy to assemble. Moved it around from room to room a couple of times and had to disassemble and reassemble multiple times. All the hardware is still in top condition.
My son really abuses the crib, but so far its not scratched or dented or broken. It can easily be passed down to future kids.
Only caveat is it had to be aired out prior to use. Even though the label says "eco" friendly. But after about a week, it did not smell anymore and could be fully used.

Comments about Atlantic Furniture Richmond 4-in-1 Convertible Crib:
The end-product is exactly what I wanted...well, the crib is anyway. I have no confidence whatsoever that I will end up with a toddler bed or a full-size bed one day. I ended up with two cribs, because the side was broken in the first box. I received the replacement crib with no hassle, but a piece in the 2nd box was manufactured incorrectly, so I had to mix and match pieces from the two boxes. I had to use the allen wrench from both boxes, and they were both worthless by the time I was finished assembling the crib. The metal was soft and I couldn't check my tightening anymore. I sadly predict that when I go to transition to a daybed, then to a full-time bed, things will not go smoothly. All that being said, the crib is beautiful and sturdy.

Hayneedle.com response:Thank you for your review. There is a wood base on this crib instead of a metal spring base. To make the strongest platform possible, a plywood base encased in a hardwood frame is used. All materials used in the construction of this crib exceed the regulations of the CPSC.
